
tMHFA is an evidence-based training program for teens in grades 9-12, or ages 14-18. It teaches teens how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges and crises among friends and peers. Teens gain the skills to have supportive conversations with their friends and learn how to get the help of a responsible and trusted adult.
This program will provide selected schools the opportunity to receive materials and support needed to offer the curriculum to the entire cohort of students that will be trained.
Participating schools will receive:
In addition to instructional materials for in-person delivery of tMHFA, schools and organizations will receive:
· Assistance in developing an implementation team
· Manuals and materials for participating teens
· Mentoring and assistance for school staff
· A supportive online learning community around teen mental health.
· Access to Youth Mental Health First Aid for staff assisting with Teen (tMHFA) trainings to ensure schools meet the 5% certification requirement by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
