Adult MHFA for: Child Development and Early Educators

In partnership with the NC Department of Health and Human Services Division of Child Development and Early Education free public trainings will be available for educators, staff, leadership, and family support staff serving childcare centers providing services to North Carolinas young citizens birth to 5 yrs.

Target Audience

These free public offerings are meant to provide professional development for licensed childhood educators serving children ages 0-5 years old, that supports ongoing learning in social-emotional development, and mental health.

Free public trainings schedule will be available for childcare center educators serving North Carolinas birth to 5yrs population. Staff can be directed to this calendar to register for a training that works with their schedule.

Supporting Exceptional Students: The Intersection of Social-Emotional Learning and Disability 

Educators who take this course will explore common social-emotional challenges experienced by elementary, middle, and high school students across the disability spectrum, with a focus on utilizing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support students in the school environment.

Teaching the Whole Child: Supporting the Social-Emotional Wellness of Preschool and Elementary School-Aged Children 

This course explores a range of typical social emotional development for elementary aged students Preschool through 5th grade; and discusses the impact of trauma on students and how school staff can support children in concrete ways to promote their social-emotional learning.

Intersections and Connections of Restorative Justice, Mental Health, and Education in Schools 

This online, self-paced training course: explores the Restorative Justice in Education Framework and describes different restorative justice practices; outlines the connections between restorative justice and mental health, as well as the connection between restorative justice and equity; and emphasizes how restorative justice supports the well-being of staff and students.
